Marathon Man – a great big softie!

A couple of weeks ago, I was alerted to a man from Henley who was training to run the London Marathon, raising money for British Heart Foundation. The man in question is Jason Cuthbert - and I was alerted to his efforts through his girlfriend tweeting like mad about it. When I read the reasoning behind Jason's Marathon effort, I cried. I often do this in my job - I hear so many heartbreaking stories - but this touched a nerve. I followed Jason's last couple of weeks of training - and then waited eagerly on marathon day to see his progress. He was running with his Mum, Jane, in memory of his Dad, Paul who sadly died very suddenly in 2012. Jason finished the marathon in 5 hours and 23 minutes. I think this is impressive enough - especially given that it was so hot on marathon day this year - well done Jason. However - when Jason finished his run, he then got down on one knee and proposed to girlfriend Helen, who was already the proudest woman in the world. (she said yes!) Congratulations Jason & Helen - thanks for letting me share your journey with you. If anyone else wants to read Jason's motivation - you can see it on his donation page. http://www.justgiving.com/paulcuthbert53/eurl.axd/318693cf843f354e8e0063c8aa5e4c9f?utm_source=website&utm_medium=button&utm_content=paulcuthbert53&utm_campaign=mymarathon
